Professor Emeritus Ikujiro Nonaka receives Foreign Minister's Commendation award.
Ikujiro Nonaka, Professor Emeritus at Hitotsubashi University, received a Foreign Minister's Commendation award for his significant achievements in promoting international cooperation through human resource development. He received his award from the Foreign Minister at a ceremony held on 27 August 2015 at Iikura Guesthouse.
Every year the Foreign Minister's Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups who have made outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contribution to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and regions. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public towards the activities of the recipients.
Prof. Nonaka was recommended to the Foreign Ministry for this award by JICA in recognition of his contributions to Knowledge Creating Theory-based capacity development of government officials and business practitioners.
* Prof. Nonaka is the world-renowned "father" of Knowledge-based Management theory, which he developed and disseminated. He taught a course on knowledge-based management at Hitotsubashi ICS from its foundation in 2000 until 2010.
