Hitotsubashi ICS Knowledge Creation Stars at JMA Annual Event
Hitotsubashi ICS Knowledge Management professors past and present were the keynote speakers at the Japan Marketing Academy's Annual Conference, held on Sunday 14 October 2018 at Waseda University in central Tokyo.
Hitotsubashi ICS Professor Emeritus Ikujiro Nonaka, a recent recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business and the globally-recognized global pioneer of the field of Knowledge Management, spoke on the topic "The Essence of Intellectual Mobility Innovation - Knowledge Creation Theory Revisited", while Dr Hirotaka Takeuchi, Harvard Business School Professor and inaugural Dean of Hitotsubashi ICS gave an address entitled "Innovation from 0 to 10".
Chaired by Hitotsubashi ICS Professor Satoshi Akutsu, the 2018 conference, the JMA's biggest event of the year, was attended by over 700 guests.
Also featured were more than 100 posters presentations, including a well-received presentation by ICS Class of 2017 student Myung Sun "Sunny" Kim, on Tsutaya's business strategy and brand communication in an aging society. Sunny's work, conducted as part of an independent research project led by Hitotsubashi ICS Associate Professor Satoko Suzuki, explained how Tsutaya had shifted its focus from product marketing
The key roles of Hitotsubashi ICS faculty and students in the JMA conference was the latest demonstration of the school's active leading role as an international center of excellence for the creation, management and dissemination of knowledge.
