Sherman Abe received his BA from Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts and MBA in finance and international business from Stanford University Graduate School of Business in Palo Alto, California.
Professor Abe has twenty-five years experience in international business activities. He was formerly a Director of Investment Banking with CS First Boston with assignments in New York, London, and Tokyo. In that capacity, he was active at senior management levels advising industrial corporations, financial institutions, and government entities. He has extensive experience raising both debt and equity in global capital markets on behalf of clients, as well as developing derivative structures for interest rate and foreign exchange hedging. Over a thirteen-year period with CS First Boston, he was engaged regularly in cross-border merger and acquisition advisory work for corporate clients in the areas of food and beverage, steel, insurance, and technology.
Professor Abe also worked for eight years with Merrill Lynch as an account executive brokering U.S., Japanese, and Euromarket securities. His career also includes a four-year period as a partner at the San Francisco, California office of Korn/Ferry International, the world's largest retained executive search firm.
Professor Abe was one of the founding faculty members of Hitotsubashi ICS in 2000 and was Associate Dean between 2002 and 2008.
