Hitotsubashi ICS module: Japan as Stakeholder Capitalism: Then, Now, and Future
This is a GNAM Alumni Module hosted by Hitotsubashi ICS that examines Japan’s corporate environment through the lens of its deeply rooted stakeholder-oriented approach. This framework, which emphasizes sustainable, long-term value creation for a wide spectrum of stakeholders, is evolving in response to contemporary economic and social shifts. The module addresses key themes such as interactions with activist investors, the implications of a rapidly aging society, progress toward gender equality, the promotion of diversity and inclusion, and the role of younger generations within a silver democracy.
The program is well suited for GNAM alumni with an interest in how business strategy intersects with social responsibility. Alongside academic discussions on Japan’s economic and corporate systems, participants will engage in cultural experiences, company visits, and sessions with invited speakers, providing an immersive perspective on one of the world’s leading economies.
Visit GNAM website to see the examples of partner schools' modules.
