On June 23, 2025, Hitotsubashi University Business School hosted the first-ever Academy of Management Journal (AMJ) Paper Development Workshop (PDW) to be held in Tokyo. The event brought together eight AMJ editors, including Editor-in-Chief Professor Marc Gruber, and welcomed approximately 100 scholars from across Japan. Participating were four ICS faculty members, three ICS DBA alumni serving as faculty at Japanese universities, and one incoming DBA student.

The workshop opened with an insightful opening session in which the editors shared in-depth advice on how to publish in top-tier journals, followed by a lively Q&A session. Then, as the core of the workshop, small-group discussions led by each of the eight editors focused on reviewing a total of 50 submitted research papers. Within these groups, participants engaged in vibrant discussions and received developmental, constructive feedback from the editors throughout.

The workshop concluded with a plenary session in which each editor shared three key takeaways from their small-group interactions. The day ended on a high note with a meaningful networking session among participants.

Hitotsubashi ICS remains committed to fostering academic exchange with leading management journals and aims to serve as a knowledge hub that supports scholars in Japan and helps disseminate their research on a global scale.
