She graduated from the Faculty of Economics, the University of Tokyo, and began her career at The Mitsubishi Bank, Ltd. She subsequently worked in the fields of document translation and audiovisual translation before entering the profession of Japanese language education. At the Japanese Language Institute of Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin, she has been responsible primarily for instruction in Business Japanese.

She studied at the Graduate School of Language Sciences, Sophia University (Japanese Language Pedagogy Program), with a focus on second language acquisition theory. In her master's thesis, A Comparative Analysis of Speaking and Writing: A Corpus-Based Study Using I-JAS, she examined, through the use of corpus data, how differences in task modality affect performance in second language production.

She is currently affiliated with the Association for Japanese-Language Teaching (AJALT), a public interest incorporated association.
