Kangyong Sun received his Ph.D. in Strategic Management and Organization from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and MSc in Applied Economics from the Guanghua School of Management at Beijing University.
At Hitotsubashi ICS, Professor Sun teaches MBA courses on AI and Business, Doing Business in Asia, and Negotiation. Previously, he also taught Digital Innovation and Transformation, Innovation Management, Corporate Entrepreneurship (New Business Creation in Established firms), Strategic Human Resource Management, and Strategy & Organization in Emerging Markets.
Before joining Hitotsubashi ICS in 2011, he taught classes on Strategic Management at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, where he was the winner of two teaching awards. He was a research fellow at Beijing University in 2000-2004.
Professor Sun’s research focuses on AI strategy, organization & management in the age of AI, digital innovation and transformation, corporate entrepreneurship, management of innovation, new industry creation and entrepreneurship, and global management. His research has been published in a number of top academic journals including Organization Science, Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior and Academy of Management Perspectives. His co-authored paper for Academy of Management Perspectives received the Academy of Management 2011 Best Article Award. He was also nominated for the Haynes Prize for the Most Promising Scholar by the Academy of International Business.
