Meet our faculty

He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo in 1981. After joining the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) and serving for 30 years, he worked in various policy fields, including (1) public finance, (2) regional economic development, (3) trade policy, (4) natural resource and energy policy, and (5) government reform, and took charge of numerous legislative initiatives. After serving as the Chief Representative of the New York Trade Insurance Office, the Director of the Financial Cooperation Division, the Director of the Financial Services Division, the Counselor to the Cabinet, and the Director-General for consumer policy, among others, he was appointed the Director-General of the Kyushu Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. After retiring in 2010, he joined INPEX Co., Ltd., where he was responsible for corporate strategy and public relations, and served as Executive Officer, Director, and SVP of INPEX for 12 years. During this time, he developed corporate strategies and business plans, managed external communications, and handled legal affairs. As the largest oil and natural gas developer in Japan, he worked to expand and diversify the stable energy supply and to address the energy transition, with a focus on climate change issues, and was appointed to his current position in February 2025.
