早稲田大学理工学部卒。野村総合研究所コンサルタントを経て、シカゴ大学大学院社会学研究科博士課程修了、Ph.D取得。Stockholm School of Economics准教授、Texas A&M University准教授を経て現職。現在、Texas A&M University社会学部特任教授も務める。
